Last Day

Just found out that this is the last day to sign up for these savings from Kellogg's. Tomorrow they will be gone!! - Sign up for $5 in coupons, special offers, promotions & more from Kellogg's!

Please Help!!

After writing my post yesterday about donating, (read it here.) I started to think and read up on the victims of the hurricanes / tornadoes here in the US. It makes you think about how truly blessed we are to have a roof over our head, basic daily items and our loved ones. These people lost so much, some have absolutely NOTHING! While I know most of us are not in a place where we can donate money, I do think we can help out still. I spoke with World Vision yesterday and asked what we could do to help. They did say their number one needed donation is money next to that to help hurricane relief victims is hygiene and cleaning supplies. Such as....
  • Deodorant
  • Soap - Bar and hand
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrushes
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Razors
  • Shampoo / Conditioner (don't forget baby shampoo)
  • Brush / comb
  • Diapers
  • Formula
  • Wash clothes
  • Cleaning wipes
  • Sponges
  • Gloves - rubber cleaning gloves
  • Cleaning supplies (409, windex, etc.)
  • Big freezer bags - to make kits up
I am going to be collecting as many items that we can over the next few weeks and then taking them to world vision on behalf of our great couponing community! If you have a few tubes of toothpaste, some extra shampoo any items listed above can you please spare a few to help out our fellow Americans! You can donate out of your stockpile, and send the items in a flat rate box from the post office - making your donation cost you next to nothing - but making all the difference in the world to someone else.
I will be collecting donations until June 12 and then making the final donation to World Vision on June 13. If you can spare a few items and ship them to me by then, it would be wonderful! Ask friends, neighbors, family, co-workers -- attach this to a email, share on Facebook - lets help our fellow Americans out!
Please ship them to...

Rori Bates
10312 192nd Street Ct. E.
Graham, WA. 98338

Thank you for your help and time with this! We are so blessed as couponers to be able to get items for free almost everyday. Please take this time to give back!!

Do you Donate?

As a couponer you more then likely end up with lots of extra things. Do you keep them? Do you donate them? Do you give them to friends and family? My husband and I think of it this way.... We have been very blessed to learn how to coupon, and get so many items for free. Since we get them for free we like to stock up on an item and give some of it away. We truly will not go through 100 deodorants in a month - and lord knows you can find those for free everyday. So we buy more when we can and then give them away.
About once a month my husband and I like to clean out the stockpile and see if there is anything we can giveaway. If you know someone who has fallen on a hard time, we will see what we can give them. We also like to give to our local food bank. You can also donate shampoos, deodorants, toothpaste, toothbrushes etc to your food banks. They don't get a lot of these items and we as couponers get a lot of them for free.
In conjunction with our Couponing for the Troops - we are also going to be doing a program soon that we will be sending care packs to our men and women overseas. (I hope to get the info up in the next week.) So this would be another great way to help someone out. What can you do today to help someone else out?

The Most Dangerous Cake Recipe in the World

Ohhhh Boy! This is the greatest thing I have ever seen!!! (my hips are going to HATE me for it though!) You have got to try this!! Just want I need after a long day of couponing!

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (micro Safe)
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well.
Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well..
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
Then EAT!    (This can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).
And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night. Enjoy!!!

Helpful Hints

A few weeks ago a few of you asked for some helpful hints around the house - Found these today. Thought they were pretty good. Hope you can get a few to work for you.
Reheat Pizza
Heat up leftover pizza in a non-stick skillet on top of the stove,
set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy.
No soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the cooking channel and it
really works.

Easy Deviled Eggs

Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all
broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up
mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into
egg. Just throw bag away when done easy clean up.

Expanding Frosting

When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it
with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You
get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat
less sugar/calories per serving.

Reheating refrigerated bread

To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place
them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will
keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.

Newspaper weeds away

Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet
newspapers put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover
with mulch and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some
gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.

Broken Glass

Use a dry cotton ball to pick up little broken glass pieces of
glass- the fibers catch ones you can't see!

No More Mosquitoes

Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes
away.

Squirrel Away!

To keep squirrels from eating your plants sprinkle your plants with
cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the
squirrels won't come near it.

MINE!!!!!

If you purchase a new bike for your child, place their picture
inside the handle bar before placing the grips on. if the bike is
stolen and later recovered, remove the grip and there is your proof
who owns the bike.

Flexible vacuum

To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an
empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum. It
can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.

Reducing Static Cling

Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not
have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that
cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and -
voila - static is gone.

Measuring Cups

Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill it with
hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry the cup. Next, add
your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch h ow easily it
comes right out.

Foggy Windshield?

Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the
glove box of your car. When the windows fog, rub with the eraser!
Works better than a cloth!

Reopening envelope

If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include
something inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for
an hour or two. Voila! It unseals easily.

Conditioner

Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's a lot cheaper
than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a
great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when
you tried it in your hair...

Goodbye Fruit Flies

To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass fill it 1/2"
with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid, mix
well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!

Get Rid of Ants

Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it
"home," & can't digest it so it kills them.. It may take a week or
so, esp. if it rains, but it works & you don't have the worry about
pets or small children being harmed!
Take baby powder to the beach

Keep a small bottle of baby powder in your beach bag. When your ready to leave the beach sprinkle yourself and kids with the powder
and the sand will slide right off your skin.

Rite Aid Coupon Policy Revised 5/25

THIS IS A MUST READ!! PLEASE SHARE THIS!! (click share button on bottom of post to make it easy!)

Effective today 5/25 Rite Aide has changed their coupon policy! Please read it, and don't forget to print it out for your coupon binders.

Rite Aid Coupon Acceptance Updated 5/25

Rite Aid gladly accepts the following coupon types as detailed in the coupon acceptance guidelines listed below:
COUPON TYPES: Manufacturer Coupons
Manufacturer coupons are found in newspapers, magazines and even affixed to products. The UPC on these coupons begins with a "5."
Rite Aid Manufacturer Coupons
Rite Aid Manufacturer coupons generally appear in our weekly circular, on our website and are sent to customers via email. These coupons are labeled "manufacturer coupon" and have a UPC that begins with "49."
Rite Aid Valuable Coupons
Rite Aid coupons are labeled "Valuable Coupon" and have a UPC that begins with "48." Internet/Print at Home coupons
Rite Aid will accept Internet / print at home coupons up to the equivalent value of $5.00 off.
A Rite Aid coupon (with the Rite Aid logo) is NOT considered an Internet coupon (even if printed off the Internet) and is therefore not subject to the $5.00 maximum.
 +UP Reward Coupons
+UP Reward coupons are special coupons earned by a customer in a prior purchase that can be used for any non-prescription purchase with a small number of exclusions that are listed on the +UP coupon. Multiple +UP coupons can be used (subject to the printed exclusions) up to the amount of purchase before sales tax.
Buy One, Get One Free
Rite Aid accepts Buy One, Get One Free coupons, however only one coupon can be used for each pair of items purchased. A customer can use one "cents off" coupon in conjunction with the item they are purchasing on a Buy One Get One Free promotion (or with a Buy One Get One Free coupon), although the value of the cents off coupon cannot exceed the selling price of the item.
Buy One Get One Free coupons cannot be used in conjunction with a Buy One Get One Free promotion.
Total Purchase Coupons
Rite Aid may feature total purchase coupons which discount the total purchase amount based upon meeting specific requirements. For example, $5 off a $25 purchase price threshold coupon.
These coupons are accepted under the following conditions: o The coupon is valid and in date; only one total purchase coupon per transaction. o Total purchase equals or exceeds $25 before tax (before any coupons are applied). o Coupons for individual items can also be used including another "48" coupon that is tied to an item in the transaction. o Provided the total of items purchased is equal to or greater than the purchase requirement, other coupons can be used in conjunction with the total purchase coupon. ACCEPTANCE GUIDELINES: General Guidelines:
Coupons must be valid and in date; Coupons cannot be exchanged for cash.
Register will validate coupon through scanning or keyed entry of the coupon UPC number.
In the event that any item’s selling price is less than the value of the coupon, Rite Aid will accept the coupon in exchange for the selling price of the item. Coupon redemption can never exceed the selling price of an item and no cash back is allowed.
When making a return for a product that had a coupon attached, Rite Aid cannot refund cash for the value of the coupon and cannot return the coupon that was used.
Rite Aid reserves the right to not accept any coupon where the validity or the coupon cannot be established.
Multiple Coupons
More than one coupon can be used on the purchase of a single item under the following conditions: o All coupons match the item being purchased. o The total of the coupons is equal to or less than the selling price of the item before sales tax.
No more than one "48" Rite Aid Valuable coupon, one "49" Rite Aid Manufacturer coupon, and one "5" Manufacturer coupon can be used on a single item. Rite Aid may accept up to 4 identical coupons for the same number of qualifying items as long as there is sufficient stock to satisfy other customers within the store manager’s sole discretion.

My Winco Trip 5/25

Have you ever ran to the store for just one good deal and end up with a cart full.... that was me today. I had placed an order a few days ago for 40 boxes of Arm & Hammer Dryer sheets and was told these would be in today. I had a coupon - $3.00/2 Arm & Hammer Dryer sheets - SS 4/10(I think???) These were $1.48 each. Buying 2 per coupon brought the total to $2.96 - with a coupon overage of $.04 for each 2 I bought. Since Winco does not give you cash back I wanted to use my overage so here is what else I bought.

8 - Franks Red Hot Wing sauce - 1.48ea
                               $1.00/1 Franks Wing sauce - SS 5/15
                               Total - $.48 each

                               4 - King's Hawaiian Sandwich Buns - $1.48ea
$1.00/1 Kings Hawaiian Sandwich Buns SS 5/15
                               Total $.48 each

                              3 - Tabasco Sauce - $.98
                              $.60/1 Tabasco Sauce - SS 5/15
                              Total $.38 each

                              3 - Mahatma Brown Rice - $.85
                              $.75/1 Mahatma Rice
                              Total $.10 each

                              2 - Ken's Dressing - $1.78 (these are not a great buy but I needed them for a salad I was making)
                              $1.00/1 Ken's Dressing
                              Total $.78 each

                              Total before coupons - $91.52
                              Sub Total - $7.96
                              Tax - $5.51
                              Total - $13.74
                              Total Savings - $78.05

I think this turned out to be a pretty good haul. (sorry there were not great pictures, I had already given some of it away and put the rest away before I remembered the pictures, but you get the idea.)
The best part of this trip was the manager had to come over to override the savings (I love it when that happens!!) And he questioned taking a coupon, making the overage. And I said, "it states in your coupon policy........" and proceeded to pull it out and he laughed and said, "you have it in your binder?" I said, "Of course, it helps in times like this." He just said, never mind and proceeded to do it.
At the end of the transaction there had been a gentleman behind me that was pretty upset with the coupons and having to wait to the manager and such. I got done bagging my items and walked over to him with 3 boxes of the dryer sheets and said, "You can have these, I love buying extra and being able to donate them and give them to people. Thank you for waiting so I was able to buy them." The look on his face was PRICELESS! Have you ever had someone upset in line and done something to change their mind?

Hi, My Name is Rori and I have a Coupon Problem

So today we, (and by we I mean my husband doing it and me cheering him on!) tried to do our first "Dumpster dive." for coupons. It was not so good!! First you can barley grab any, since it was so deep. But second we learned that police in our area frown on this. As the police car was pulling up all I could picture is us going to jail and this being my story....Some big scary guy saying..."What are you in for?" Me: "Oh nothing, just trying to support my coupon addiction." LOL All in all, not so good.
So just wanted to ask you. Have you had good luck with this or knew someone that has? What do you/they do? Is there a secret day to go? Anyone live in the WA area that does this? Where do you go?
Thanks guys for all your help!

Bounce this Along

Bounce Outdoor Fresh Sheets, 240 Count Box

I have got a few emails lately asking if I would start to do helpful household tips. So I thought I would give this one a try. Here are some great tips for Bounce - Bounce it along to your friends.

1. It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them.  It also repels mice.
2. Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.
3. It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.
4. It repels mosquitoes.  Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.
5. Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.
6. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.
7. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors.  Clean with a sheet of Bounce.
8. To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.
9. Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.
10. Prevent thread from tangling.  Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.
11.  Prevent musty suitcases.  Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.
12. To freshen the air in your car - Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.
13. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan.  Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean.  The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan.
14. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets.  Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.
15. Collect cat hair.  Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the lose hairs.
16. Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds.  Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.
17. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering.  A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.
18. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry.  Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.
19. Deodorize shoes or sneakers.  Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.
20. Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.
